THE FACIAL OILS SERIES (PART 3)

We have earlier discussed what facial oils are and the different types of facial oils based on where they are derived from.
Now let’s see what facial oils are best for each skin type and what is in them that helps our skin…

DRY SKIN

The following oils are high on oleic fatty acids which means these are very good in sealing in moisture on the skin.

  • CAMELLIA JAPONICA OIL

Super rich in anti-ageing antioxidants that is very good for skin nourishment. Also, this is rich in Omega-9, a remarkable trans-dermal carrier, which is very effective in enhancing skin’s moisture retention ability. It is known as a non-comedogenic type of oil.

  • SAFFLOWER OIL

Safflower oil is capable of softening up dry areas, smooth rough patches, and it even heals skin concerns, improving both the texture and tone of your skin. Safflower oil has anti-inflammatory properties and excellent occlusive properties, enabling it to act as a moisturizing agent by preventing excessive loss of moisture on the skin.

  • OLIVE OIL

Olive oil is beneficial for dry skin because of its essential fatty acids dry skin needs. This plant oil maintains a low potential for irritant or allergic reaction. Highly comedogenic but acts great for dry skin types.

Beware! Olive oil has been shown to be problematic for skin if used solely because it tends to diminish the skin’s barrier integrity and delay healing of injured skin.

    • SUNFLOWER OIL

Sunflower oil is rich with Vitamin A, C and E, fatty acids and antioxidants which helps to regenerate skin. It has good moisture retention properties for skin that makes it perfect for under eye regimen. Unlike other oils, this is gentle to be applied directly to the skin.

    • SWEET ALMOND OIL

Almond oil is a rich source of skin-repairing ingredients including triglycerides and several fatty acids (oleic, linoleic, and myristic among them). It is considered light, mild, hypoallergenic oil that can be safely used even on baby skin.

Beware! If you are allergic to nuts it is highly advisable to stay away from almond oil.

Dry skin type needs extra care especially during winter or cold months as it dryness intensifies due to the changing climate. Regular intake of water will keep the body replenished and would help in making the skin retain moisture.

Hopefully, this article helped you in searching for potent facial oils to help your skin achieve its optimal healthy glow and nourished appearance.
