NON-COMEDOGENIC?

What does non-comedogenic mean and why is it important?

Ever heard of blackheads and whiteheads?

How does it work?

Presumably, yes.

Comedones refer to blackheads (open comedones) and whiteheads (closed comedones) in dermatology.

As per acne-skin-care-expert.com, Comedo is the technical term for an acne impaction made up of dead skin cells and sebum (oil). If you have several of these lesions, they’re called comedones.

Thus, ‘non-comedogenic’ means that the product does not contain ingredients that are known to clog up the pores, which increases the chances of acne formation, according to dermletter.com.

Products that are labelled non-comedogenic indicate that the manufacturer considers the product to be designed for people with oily or acne prone skin, and is less likely to cause acne.

If you have oily, oily-combination, combination or acne-prone skin type, then you may want to prefer products that are non-comedogenic.

Simply checking the products you're using can save you from spending your money to products that may not work best for you after all.
