THE FACIAL OILS SERIES (PART 1)

We have earlier discussed what facial oils are and the different types of facial oils based on where they are derived from.
Now let’s see what facial oils are best for each skin type and what is in them that helps our skin…

OILY OR ACNE-PRONE SKIN

Look for oil that is rich in Linoleic fatty acids if you have oily or acne-prone skin. Linoleic fatty acid has thinner consistency and is easily absorbed by the skin.
If you have oily or acne-prone skin, studies show that the skin has low levels of linoleic fatty acid in the surface skin lipids. The sebum produced on your skin becomes thick, sticky and pore-clogging. This stage shows the skin has too much of oleic fatty acid so it is best to use more of oils enriched with linoleic fatty acids to balance the skin sebum and decrease breakouts.

  • TEA TREE OIL

Tea Tree oil is great for oily skin since it has disinfecting properties that will kill bacteria in your pores.
Beware!  Do not directly apply pure ‘tea tree oil’ because it can burn and cause damage on your skin.

  • MARACUJA OIL OR PASSION FRUIT SEED OIL

This oil is moisturizing but not heavy at all which is good for the skin especially for under eye treatment. Not too greasy at all and totally nourishing for the sensitive part of the face. It is high in linoleic fatty acid good for nurturing the skin’s moisture barrier but keeps sebum at bay.

  • GRAPESEED OIL

This oil is good for acne-prone skin and it can be a very good use for spot treatment. Good for healing skin inflammation and can even dry out a bit. It has anti-microbial properties and a very good natural preservative.

  • APRICOT SEED OIL

A very light oil and has non-comedogenic effect. It is rich in natural Vitamin E which is good for the skin’s nourishment.

  • EVENING PRIMROSE OIL

This oil is a very good antioxidant source rich in Vitamins C and E. Mildly comedogenic and it is also good for healing skin inflammation.

These common essential oils are what your skin care regimen or make-up products should be enriched.
Hopefully, this article helped you in searching for potent facial oils to help your skin achieve its optimal healthy glow and nourished appearance.
